Northern California is blessed with one of the best climates in the universe. But, the Bay can get quite cool at night. We recommend bringing something warm, but otherwise wear what is comfortable. And of course, do not outdress the bride.
WHAT TO BRING:
- Sweater (for nighttime)
- Comfortable shoes *
- Sunscreen, sunglasses, hat *
- Beach attire, towels, pail and shovel (for beach) *
- Children -do not leave in car! *
Because the ceremony will take place atop a slight (wheelchair accessible) hill, requiring a mild walk up a dirt road, we highly advise against heels. The community center is located very close to the ocean, and it is reasonable to expect that the revelry of the evening will lead to at least one walk to the beach.
The Sun in California can be quite impounding, so we recommend hats, sunscreen, and sunglasses, especially for our fairer friends. The community center is well shaded, but the ceremony will be largely in the open.
Although it will be a wedding reception, the Community center is a quick walk to Muir beach, and who can resist that?
Children are welcome, naturally. There is even a playground at the Community center. Adults may use the playground, but must defer to the children first.
Lastly, but most vitally, Gifts! Your presence at our wedding is gift
enough. Really, we very much appreciate your willingness to make the
trek out to California. If you really really feel like you have to
give us a gift, we humbly ask that it be in the form of a discreet
check, to be used against our inexorbitant student loan debt, handed
in an envelope mafioso-style.
Bowing to pressure from the entrenched established antiquated aristocratic minded elders of protocol, we have a registry at www.myregistry.com under Susan Lamberth and Erik Szabados. While gifts are nice, half of us still prefer less loans, the gift that keeps on giving by eliminating later interest (nod to my accountant).
